Before explaining what it means to be your own proof and point you in the right direction to building a successful Internet Marketing Business through Affiliate Marketing, let me first dispel a few misconceptions about internet marketing:
- Yes, you CAN make money online
- There are many FREE ways to earn a substantial online income
- The internet marketing business arena IS NOT flooded.
- Online business opportunities are not finite. It is constantly growing and expanding
- There are many good, honest people willing to help you succeed
- Affiliate marketing is a legitimate form of business
- Building a successful Internet Marketing Business requires HARD work… initially
- Affiliate marketing is not a SCAM
- You do not need a miracle product
- Making money online has nothing to do with timing
- You do not need to be incredibly LUCKY
For you seasoned marketers, feel free to throw in any other misconceptions, but I want to focus on the first item in the list.
The #1 reason people do not make money online is they simply give up.
At least they tried though, right? WRONG! They did not try.
They came across a few hurdles and after the first 2 or 3 they said, “No Mas.”
Who said you had to JUMP OVER the hurdles in the first place?!
You could have gone under, around, or simply pushed the hurdle over and walked over it. And that is not a metaphor for running people over or breaking the rules. What it means is that the hurdles were not the problem.
Here is the thing.
Society is growing increasingly accustomed to instant gratification. We want fast food, instant downloads and movies on-demand.
So when we do not make money with our Internet Marketing Business as quickly as expected (because of hype from unscrupulous marketers), we move on to the next best thing.
But there is another audience. The shoulda, woulda, coulda crowd.
They generally stand on the sidelines and wait for someone else to succeed first before they take the plunge themselves. They need proof that it works.
Imagine if Thomas Edison waited around for someone else to prove that it was possible to make an incandescent light bulb that works, or had given up after his first 500 failures. He did not though, even after more than 6,000 failed attempts!

So maybe you started an Internet Marketing Business once and failed. You still have 5,999 tries left to succeed!
The point is He Did Not Quit, nor did he wait around on the sidelines for someone else to do it first. He took the initiative and made it happen.
When I first saw the woman who would later become my eternal companion, I did not wait for someone else to introduce me to her. I devised a plan to meet her, and I did not let her out of my sight the entire night. My plan was brilliant too by the way!
The thing is if you want something… REALLY want something like owning an Internet Marketing Business… you cannot be a standby on the sidelines. You have to make it happen!
You need to… BE YOUR OWN PROOF!
Look, if you and I joined a gym together at the same time, and you started to see some serious definition and muscle tone while I was totally swimming in fail sauce, would you quit on MY account?
Of course not!
Even as I was failing, I would expect you to stay in there and get RIPPED!
The same holds true with affiliate marketing. You need to stay in that gym and never give up on building your Internet Marketing Business.
